en.Wedoany.com Reported - Canadian exploration company Lara Exploration Ltd. (TSXV:LRA, OTC PINK:LRAXF) announced on June 29, 2026, that it has initiated a 14,000-meter verification drilling program at its Planalto copper-gold project in the Carajás mining district, Pará, Brazil. Seven diamond drill rigs are currently operating on site, aiming to validate the geological-mineralization model outlined in the company's 2024 mineral resource estimate and the 2025 preliminary economic assessment (PEA).

Drilling aims to validate the Planalto geological model

Lara Exploration is an exploration company focused on advancing its wholly owned Planalto copper-gold project. Located in the Carajás mining district of Pará, Brazil, the Planalto project is expected to adopt conventional open-pit mining methods, according to the 2025 PEA. The project is designed to process 8 million tonnes of ore per year through conventional crushing, grinding, and flotation circuits. Over an 18-year mine life, Planalto is projected to produce 560,000 tonnes (1.2 billion pounds) of copper and 111,000 ounces of gold, with an average annual gold production of approximately 7,200 ounces.

According to Lara's disclosure, the primary objective of this verification drilling program is to tighten the drill grid spacing to at least 100 meters by 100 meters over the main mineralized zone, thereby upgrading the majority of mineral resources within the previous PEA pit shell to the "indicated" or "measured" category. Along the main Homestead-Cupuzeiro mineralized trend, 29 holes totaling 10,186 meters have been completed. These holes are primarily focused on further delineating the extent of the high-grade copper-gold zone (grades of 0.6% to 1.0% copper) in the central Cupuzeiro area. Geological logging has identified near-surface, intensely copper-mineralized zones exceeding 100 meters in width in the central Cupuzeiro area. On the smaller satellite target, the Silica Cap trend, located southeast of the main orebody, four holes totaling 761 meters have been completed.
