en.Wedoany.com Reported - Racks Central, a Singapore-based data center platform, has made new progress on its 510MW AI data center campus in Johor, Malaysia. Paul Mah, Executive Editor of w.media, observed in a LinkedIn post yesterday that the project is reportedly the first and largest AI data center in Southeast Asia. The first phase of the campus uses Nvidia Blackwell GPU chips, and the third floor of the three-story facility in Pasir Gudang is currently under construction.

In his opening remarks, Racks Central CEO Bobby Wee revealed that the 70MW capacity of the first phase has been fully claimed, and the 120MW of the second phase is also fully booked. The campus will be 100% equipped with high-end GPUs, including Nvidia Blackwell, Vera Rubin, and Rubin Ultra, which will be deployed in subsequent phases of the project. The total investment in the project is RM26.6 billion (approximately USD 6.73 billion).

Bobby Wee introduced that the campus comprises four facilities—RCJM1, RCJM2A & 2B, and RCJM3. Among them, the largest facilities, RCJM 2A and 2B, each account for 300MW of the total 510MW campus capacity. The data center will draw water from the Iskandar Reservoir and treat it internally. Racks Central has signed an agreement with Johor Special Water (JSW) to supply water to RCJM 1 and RCJM 2A to meet water demand.

The campus is designed to achieve GreenRE Platinum certification, a Malaysian standard established by the Real Estate and Housing Developers' Association (REHDA). The campus deploys several advanced green features, including direct-to-chip cooling. GreenRE has its own data center rating tool and scoring levels, which draw from other global green building certification systems, including Singapore's IMDA-BCA Green Mark.

Racks Central recently hired Suppan Saravanamuthu, formerly of Iron Mountain, as Chief Operating Officer. The company was founded in 2014 and initially operated a 12MW data center in Singapore.
