en.Wedoany.com Reported - Fibre Net has acquired a new production site of over 22,000 square meters near Udine, Italy, with plans to establish the group's European Center of Excellence in structural reinforcement. The company, part of the Kerakoll Group, specializes in structural repair and reinforcement solutions.

The new facility will expand Fibre Net's R&D capabilities and production activities, and will be integrated into the company's existing site system in the Udine industrial area, bringing the company's total operational area to 78,300 square meters. Under the plan, the site will house advanced manufacturing activities, R&D laboratories, and technical training spaces, positioning it as a hub for knowledge, production, and technology development in the field of building and infrastructure repair and reinforcement.

This investment is driven by sustained market demand for the maintenance, renovation, and safety enhancement of the existing building stock and infrastructure. Data shows that approximately 68% of Italy's construction investment in 2026 is expected to be directed toward renovation and retrofitting, with spending on major maintenance works reaching €61.5 trillion.

Andrea Zampa, founder of the Fibre Net Group and director of R&D, Technical Office, and Operations, stated that the investment aims to establish Udine as a benchmark in structural reinforcement in Europe through the development of innovative products and systems. The center will integrate production, research, testing, and training functions, leveraging collaborations with domestic and international universities and research institutions.

The company also announced the appointment of Lorenzo Melegari as the new CEO of the Fibre Net Group. Melegari joined Kerakoll in 2020, previously serving as Corporate Product Manager for the Building Division. He holds an MBA from SDA Bocconi School of Management and has international professional experience. He will be responsible for leading the group's industrial plan and coordinating the integration of Fibre Net's specialized expertise with Kerakoll's industrial capabilities and international vision.

This expansion comes at a transformative stage for Fibre Net. In 2026, the group celebrates its 25th anniversary and launches its alliance with Kerakoll. The alliance is structured as a gradual, medium-to-long-term integration process between the two companies, leveraging complementary strengths and setting international growth targets. The Udine Center of Excellence will play an operational role in this strategy, strengthening Fibre Net's industrial capabilities in strategic markets and channels. The project also includes plans to expand laboratories, introduce new production facilities aligned with Industry 5.0 principles, and promote the region's appeal to highly skilled technical talent.
