en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 1, 2026, Malaysia's Penang-based Hunza Group announced that all infrastructure construction for the 880-acre Penang Technology Park @ Bertam has been completed, and the park's entrance landmark has been officially unveiled, marking the park's full entry into the delivery phase. Investors can now "buy, use, and start production immediately," further shortening the factory construction cycle and accelerating the implementation of investment projects.
Hunza Group Chief Operating Officer Dato' Goh Chin Beng stated that in recent years, Penang has gradually transformed from a traditional manufacturing base into a high-tech manufacturing center with a mature semiconductor supply chain, highly skilled talent, and a comprehensive industrial ecosystem, continuously attracting investment from multinational corporations both domestically and internationally. He pointed out that companies interested in setting up factories in Penang can obtain freehold industrial land through the Bertam Technology Park while enjoying one-stop investment services, including site selection planning, policy coordination, and professional consultant referrals. The park now offers conditions for "signing contracts to acquire land, acquiring land to start construction, and completing construction to commence production," which can save companies approximately one to two years of construction time compared to waiting for the development of a new industrial park.
The park has completed infrastructure including two-way four-lane main roads, 100-foot-wide internal roads, water and electricity supply, 5G network, natural gas pipelines, and a 24/7 closed-circuit television monitoring system, meeting the infrastructure and production environment requirements of high-tech industries such as semiconductors and new energy. The Bertam Technology Park is adjacent to the North-South Expressway, providing rapid connectivity between Penang Island and the mainland, while also linking to Penang Port and the Butterworth Container Terminal, facilitating corporate logistics and supply chain layout. The park's planning covers light industrial land, medium industrial land, commercial facilities, and factory rental areas, accommodating the operational needs of enterprises at different development stages.
To date, the park's land absorption rate has exceeded 60%. Hunza Group stated that it has received investment inquiries from multiple companies, including those in the semiconductor, electrical and electronics, automotive and components, new energy, energy storage, and other high-tech sectors. As settled enterprises gradually commence production, it is expected to create more technical positions and further drive regional employment and the development of upstream and downstream industries. As Penang serves as a key hub for Malaysia's semiconductor industry, the full delivery of the Bertam Technology Park will further enhance the region's capacity to accommodate the transfer of high-tech industries.
