en.Wedoany.com Reported - Maritime Tactical Systems Inc. (MARTAC) and composite boat builder Mystic Powerboats have announced a joint production partnership to expand MARTAC's domestic manufacturing capacity, meeting the growing demand from U.S. and allied customers for autonomous unmanned surface vessels (USVs). Headquartered in Melbourne, Florida, MARTAC is a supplier of high-performance autonomous USVs; Mystic Powerboats, based in DeLand, Florida, brings 30 years of experience in advanced carbon fiber and composite manufacturing.
Defense and security organizations are increasingly expanding their use of autonomous capabilities in missions such as distributed maritime operations, maritime domain awareness, logistics support, and force protection (see "3D printing and the agile production imperative"), driving accelerated demand for autonomous maritime systems. MARTAC's USV series, including the Devil Ray and Mantas platforms, has been operationally validated for over a decade across multiple government programs and exercises. The company plans to expand its current production capacity to address near-term demand and scale as the market evolves.
Mystic Powerboats' production facility spans nearly 100,000 square feet and is equipped with the tooling, personnel, and processes needed for scalable production of high-strength, lightweight hull structures. Its capabilities in epoxy infusion, carbon fiber lamination, and foam core construction directly align with the materials and methods used in MARTAC's Devil Ray and Mantas platforms, making it an ideal joint production partner for scaling autonomous USV deliveries.
"Mystic is a key step in our strategy to rapidly scale production while ensuring our systems remain operationally proven and ready for deployment," emphasized Seamus Flatley, Chief Growth Officer at MARTAC.
The partnership between MARTAC and Mystic is the first of several pending domestic joint production partnerships the company is finalizing, supporting a significant expansion of its joint production framework. This distributed production model enhances MARTAC's ability to meet operational requirements by increasing surge capacity, diversifying the supply chain, and accelerating delivery timelines.
