Wedoany.com Report-Apr. 11, Westinghouse Electric Company has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Celeros Flow Technology (Celeros FT) to support new nuclear construction projects in Canada and worldwide. The agreement focuses on leveraging Celeros FT’s expertise to advance Westinghouse’s initiatives for clean energy development.

Celeros FT global commercial director Ken Lazzara and energy systems account management and procurement execution senior director Sean Jones signing the MoU.

Celeros FT, headquartered in Burlington, Ontario, specializes in designing and manufacturing nuclear pumps and valves at four certified facilities. Under the MoU, the company may contribute to the design and production of critical components for Westinghouse’s AP1000 and AP300 reactor projects, which aim to deliver reliable and sustainable energy solutions.

Jose Larios, President and CEO of Celeros FT, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating: “We are delighted to be a partner of choice for Westinghouse on their nuclear new-build programme. Celeros FT is committed to developing flow control solutions that help to deliver clean energy to the world, and nuclear is one of our focus industries.” He added: “Our winning combination of engineering expertise and fully accredited global facilities offers full lifecycle support to customers of our nuclear pumps and valves, ensuring that nuclear power plants operate safely and efficiently.”

The collaboration is part of Westinghouse’s broader strategy to work with Canadian companies to support its global AP1000 and AP300 programs. Each AP1000 unit built outside Canada is estimated to generate C$1 billion in local economic activity through regional suppliers, contributing to economic growth. The partnership emphasizes the importance of local manufacturing in enabling the worldwide deployment of advanced nuclear reactors.

Dan Lipman, President of Westinghouse Energy Systems, highlighted Celeros FT’s contributions, saying: “Celeros FT’s known pumping technology and diverse range of high-quality industrial valves are used in nuclear plants around the world, helping contribute to safe and efficient plant operations.” He further noted: “Their engineered-to-order products and solutions will help us expand our AP1000 technology and introduce new AP300 projects in Canada and around the world, enhancing Canada’s global reputation as a leader in clean energy innovation.”

In a related development, Westinghouse signed another MoU in March 2025 with Shawflex to further nuclear project advancements in Canada and globally. These partnerships reflect a commitment to fostering innovation and sustainability in the nuclear energy sector, supporting the global transition to cleaner energy sources while strengthening local economies through collaborative efforts.
