en.Wedoany.com Reported - Vietnam Petroleum Drilling Corporation (Petrovietnam Drilling, PV Drilling) has begun rolling out National Oilwell Varco's (NOV) NOVOS automation platform on its offshore drilling rigs to achieve operational standardization and intelligent drilling capabilities. The company is the first to deploy this platform on three rigs: PV Drilling VI, PV Drilling VIII, and PV Drilling IX.

NOVOS operates as an advanced control layer, integrating with existing drilling control systems such as Amphion and Cyberbase to coordinate the drilling process based on preset scenarios, rather than controlling individual equipment separately. NOV has been developing this platform since 2012 and has expanded it into a broader ecosystem, including the KAIZEN AI optimization tool, DrillLink automatic directional control, managed pressure drilling integration, and the ATOM RTX drill floor mechanization system.
PV Drilling currently operates six jack-up rigs and one deepwater rig, and has invested in building another jack-up rig, tentatively named PV Drilling X. The company plans to first validate NOVOS performance on the initial three rigs, and roll out the platform across its entire fleet by 2030. PV Drilling is also simultaneously using NOVOS in conjunction with maintenance and drilling asset management systems to support predictive maintenance.
