en.Wedoany.com Reported - The U.S. Primary Aluminum Association (APAA) commends Magnitude 7 Metals' decision to restart the primary aluminum smelter in Marston, Missouri. The first potline is scheduled to begin production by the end of 2026, adding 75,000 metric tons of primary aluminum output annually to the United States, marking another recovery for the U.S. aluminum industry after years of contraction due to unfair trade practices.
David Kaplan of Otto von Blue, owner of Magnitude 7 Metals, stated that today's announcement is not just a return of production but also reflects renewed confidence in the strength and future of American industry. The company is proud to restore critical domestic aluminum capacity, which will create hundreds of new high-paying manufacturing jobs in Marston, Missouri, and invest in the long-term resilience of U.S. manufacturing. Kaplan noted that President Trump's 50% aluminum tariff created the conditions for this investment.
APAA President Mark Duffy commented that restarting the Magnitude 7 aluminum smelter in the Missouri Bootheel region is a game-changer for Missouri families and critical to U.S. national security. Duffy stated that today's announcement is a direct result of the successful outcomes of President Trump's Section 232 aluminum tariffs. Combined with Century Aluminum's capacity restart at Mt. Holly, U.S. primary aluminum production will increase by more than 20%, ushering in a new recovery for U.S. aluminum manufacturing.
The Marston smelter, located in southeastern Missouri, has historically been a significant source of U.S. primary aluminum production.
The U.S. Primary Aluminum Association (APAA), through the "Aluminum Now" campaign, advances the interests of the U.S. primary aluminum industry and its workers. It is incorporated in Washington, D.C., as a non-profit trade association.
