en.Wedoany.com Reported - Cranfield Airport has been renamed London Cranfield Airport and has entered into a new strategic partnership with Weston Aviation to drive expansion into the UK business aviation market.

Where is London? Ah, London Cranfield Airport

The Bedfordshire airport, owned by Cranfield University, said the name change aims to enhance its appeal to corporate operators, charter companies, and private aircraft owners by emphasizing its proximity to London and the Oxford-Cambridge Growth Corridor. The move coincides with the airport joining Weston Aviation's "The Collection" network, a group of regional airports designed to boost business aviation traffic through shared sales, marketing, and customer support. Under the agreement, Weston will become Cranfield Airport's exclusive strategic business aviation partner.

For pilots and operators, Cranfield Airport features a 1,799-meter runway, no competition from airline flights, no slot restrictions, and quick turnaround times. The airport also offers remote clearance services for international arrivals, allowing passengers to disembark within minutes of landing. Airport Director Robert Abbott stated that the partnership marks a significant milestone in accelerating Cranfield Airport's emergence as a leading business aviation destination.

A 2018 FLYER report noted that business jets are being encouraged to base at London Cranfield Airport. Weston Aviation CEO Nick Weston said Cranfield Airport's rich aviation heritage and excellent infrastructure make it an ideal fit for the network.

The airport has been enhancing its capabilities to support this goal. A new 38-meter radar tower is scheduled to become operational this year, improving air traffic management and handling capacity while supporting research and future drone integration. For general aviation pilots, Cranfield Airport remains a familiar name due to its ties with the university and its long-standing role in flight testing and research, but the latest move signals a commercial shift in focus toward business jets.
