en.Wedoany.com Reported - Deep Sky has delivered the first certified direct air capture (DAC) carbon credits in North America from its Deep Sky Alpha facility in Alberta, Canada.

These carbon credits have been independently verified and certified under the direct air capture protocol of the certification body Isometric. The protocol requires accounting for all project emissions when calculating net CO₂ removal, along with long-term monitoring to ensure safe and permanent storage.
Since Isometric is the first certification body approved by the Voluntary Carbon Markets Integrity Initiative (ICVCM) to issue DAC carbon credits bearing the Core Carbon Principles (CCP) label, Deep Sky's credits have become the world's first DAC carbon removal credits with the CCP label.
Eamon Jubbawy, CEO of Isometric, stated that this marks Isometric's first issuance of DAC carbon credits, signifying the first rigorous certification of DAC in North America and generating the world's first CCP-labeled certificates under this pathway. He noted that this is a key validation point for the technology's practical potential, and passing this initial threshold opens the door to larger and more frequent issuances, most importantly paving the way for scaling up.
Deep Sky will deliver these DAC carbon credits to Microsoft and the Royal Bank of Canada as part of a multi-year carbon dioxide removal (CDR) purchase agreement lasting until 2034.
The Canada-based CDR company announced the design of its Deep Sky Alpha facility in late 2024 and successfully entered the commissioning phase in the summer of 2025. Within 18 months of construction start, the facility has injected its first atmospheric CO₂ for permanent underground storage and generated the first verified DAC carbon credits in North America.
This achievement has attracted multiple partnerships, including agreements signed by Deep Sky with TD Bank, Lufthansa Group, ENGIE, and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp. These collaborations support Deep Sky's goal of positioning Canada as a global leader in durable carbon removal.
Alex Petre, CEO of Deep Sky, stated that ahead of continuous commercial operations, this milestone credit issuance adds a validation point: the first certified DAC carbon removal credits in North America. He noted that the company's approach has always been to build, verify, and deliver, and the next step is to scale up.
