The scheme has been developed in close consultation with the City of London and heritage stakeholders, aiming to ensure that the new design respects both the architectural integrity of Albert Buildings and its significant role within the Bow Lane Conservation Area. Glyn Emrys of Emrys Architects stated that Albert Buildings is one of the most distinctive and well-known Victorian commercial buildings in the City of London, and the approach seeks to highlight the building's exceptional architectural features while ensuring its continued relevance, accessibility, and economic viability. Through careful restoration of the historic fabric, rationalization of decades of incongruous alterations, and the introduction of a sensitive modern rooftop extension, these proposals will inject new vitality into Albert Buildings while preserving its important contribution to the City of London's urban landscape.
