en.Wedoany.com Reported - VEON Group CEO Kaan Terzioglu reaffirmed support for the Digital Qazaqstan Strategy during a meeting with President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The meeting took place following the 38th plenary session of the Foreign Investors' Council (FIC), an advisory body facilitating direct dialogue between the Kazakh government and investors.
During the FIC Council session, VEON highlighted progress on Direct to Cell technology, developed in collaboration with Kazakhstan's Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development. This hybrid solution combines terrestrial infrastructure with satellite technology, aiming to achieve 100% nationwide coverage, with services planned to be available to Kazakh citizens by August 2026.
This visit builds on a series of recent investments in Kazakhstan's digital infrastructure by VEON and its subsidiary Beeline Kazakhstan. In December 2025, Beeline Kazakhstan began construction of a Tier III hypercloud data center in Almaty, designed to build a sovereign cloud and AI computing ecosystem for enterprises and the public sector, with the facility expected to be operational by the end of 2026. Additionally, Beeline Kazakhstan has advanced satellite connectivity in partnership with Starlink Direct to Cell, completing Central Asia's first field test of voice and SMS services over this network, with commercial rollout planned to begin with SMS services later this year. During the visit, Kaan also held a meeting with Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development, Zhaslan Madiyev.
Group CEO Kaan Terzioglu stated that VEON remains focused on investing in Kazakhstan to build future infrastructure, covering telecommunications networks, computing power, and AI-based digital services.
