en.Wedoany.com Reported - Hancom has changed its corporate name to "Hancom (HANCOM)" and officially announced its transformation into an "Agentic Operating System (OS)" enterprise. The company plans to leverage this foundation to target the "Sovereign Agentic OS" market and accelerate its global business expansion.

Hancom held a general shareholders' meeting on the 2nd, passing a resolution to amend its articles of incorporation and change the company name to Hancom. The company stated that it has set aside the symbolic name "아래아한글," representing Korea's first generation of IT, and formally established a new AI-centric identity through official procedures.
Following its transformation into an AI company, Hancom will formally transition into an Agentic operating system company. An Agentic OS is an operating system that connects and controls multiple AI agents within the same environment. The company plans to release a beta version in the second half of this year, targeting both the domestic Korean and global markets. The primary strategic focus is the Sovereign Agentic OS market, a system that securely drives and controls multiple AI agents while protecting data sovereignty.
According to Hancom, the recent global AI market is reorganizing around two major trends: "agentification" (autonomous judgment and execution) and "sovereignty" (avoiding external dependency). In industries involving sensitive data, such as public services, defense, finance, and healthcare, the difficulty of entrusting data to big tech companies is driving growing demand for independent Agentic OS solutions. The company plans to use the commercialization of the Sovereign Agentic OS as a starting point to strengthen its position as a partner for corporate AI transformation.
On the 29th of last month, Hancom supplied the AI document writing solution "Hancom Assistant" to Korea Western Power Co., Ltd. This marks the first case within a power group where a self-developed generative AI chatbot, "Wepy Bot," was linked with Hancom Assistant to build a company-wide document writing environment. Additionally, this year, Hancom completed the construction of an AI knowledge search system for the BGF Group and independently executed an AI project for the National Assembly Library, handling everything from requirements analysis to delivery.
The development and commercialization of the Agentic OS will proceed based on this foundation. Hancom views its existing customer base of 200,000 as an advantage, noting that most central government ministries and provincial/metropolitan offices of education are long-term users. The company explained that rather than exploring new markets, it will expand its AI business based on its existing user base. Global market expansion will begin in Europe, with recent consecutive business cooperation agreements signed with European companies. These include a joint research agreement with Poland's national-level R&D center, 7bulls, for the European localization of the Agentic OS, and an MOU with Polish AI company Algomin for joint public sector proof-of-concept projects.
Hancom CEO Kim Yeon-soo stated that the name change is not a promise for the future but a confirmation of a transformation already achieved. Building on assets accumulated over 36 years, the company has repositioned itself as an AI enterprise and will leverage these assets to pioneer the Sovereign Agentic OS market and challenge global standards.
