en.Wedoany.com Reported - ABB has secured an order from Zhejiang Petroleum & Chemical Co., Ltd. to supply ProcessMaster FEP600 electromagnetic flowmeters with Ethernet-APL (Advanced Physical Layer) connectivity for upgrading a large-scale refining and petrochemical integrated complex at the Yushan Island Zhoushan Green Petrochemical Base. The complex has a total refining capacity of 40 million tons per year.

These ProcessMaster flowmeters will be deployed in a chemical production facility within the complex, which produces 450,000 tons of adipic acid annually. Adipic acid is a key raw material for manufacturing nylon 66, specialty engineering plastics, and polyurethane.

The Ethernet-APL instruments will enable high-speed real-time data transmission across the entire facility, supporting efficient and reliable plant operations.

The flowmeters are used to monitor the flow of high-temperature, corrosive acidic fluids in the plant and are designed for a wide range of pipe diameters from DN 15mm to DN 300mm. A single two-wire cable simultaneously provides power and high-speed Ethernet-APL communication, achieving the highest safety protection level (Ex ia) and enabling reliable data transmission over distances up to 1000 meters. ABB employs PFA lining technology to protect the flowmeters, ensuring measurement accuracy and equipment longevity.

A representative from Zhejiang Petroleum & Chemical stated that the company aims to fully leverage the inherent enhanced data sensing and transmission capabilities of ABB instruments to improve understanding of operating conditions and achieve intelligent, more efficient operations.

Jacques Mulbert, President of ABB Measurement & Analytics, noted that Ethernet-APL is increasingly becoming the most commonly used communication technology in intrinsically safe industrial applications. Through this collaboration, ABB will support Zhejiang Petroleum & Chemical in achieving intelligent operations, advanced diagnostics, and proactive maintenance.

This order builds on ABB's previous deliveries of Ethernet-APL VortexMaster and SwirlMaster flowmeters to Zhejiang Petroleum & Chemical and Rongsheng Petrochemical, both subsidiaries of the Fortune Global 500 company Rongsheng Group.
