en.Wedoany.com Reported - German Railway (Deutsche Bahn) has opened a new container yard at its Ulm-Dornstadt site in Baden-Württemberg, which was completed in less than nine months.

The additional yard space is designed to increase storage capacity and improve the availability and reception of containers for shipping companies, freight forwarders, and loading companies using the site. The yard is operated by DB Intermodal Services, a subsidiary of German Rail Freight (DB Cargo), providing container storage, repair, and preparation services for combined transport customers.

The new yard area is linked to the expansion of the Ulm-Dornstadt transshipment terminal. German Railway stated that the terminal's road-to-rail transshipment capacity is planned to more than double by 2028. Together, the yard and terminal form a combined transport hub connecting the Ulm region to broader freight corridors, handling container flows between road and rail for regional shippers and logistics providers.
