en.Wedoany.com Reported - Swiss railway manufacturer Stadler held an expansion ceremony at its manufacturing plant in Salt Lake City, Utah, marking its tenth anniversary in the U.S. market. This capacity expansion is expected to create up to 300 new jobs.

The expansion added 245,000 square feet of manufacturing space, bringing the total plant area to 475,000 square feet. The new facilities include a welding workshop, sandblasting room, assembly workshop, expanded warehouse, and electrical pre-assembly workshop.

The investment aims to support growing market demand in North America while enhancing the overall manufacturing capacity of Stadler's Utah plant.

Martin Ritter, CEO of Stadler North America, stated: "This milestone not only reflects what we have achieved over the past decade but also demonstrates our long-term commitment to building trains, creating jobs, and investing in U.S. manufacturing."

The celebration on July 1 was attended by government and industry representatives, including Swiss Federal President Guy Parmelin, who emphasized the economic and innovation ties between Switzerland and the United States. Representatives from the U.S. Federal Railroad Administration and the state of Utah also participated in the ceremony.

During the event, Stadler also held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new CNC production workshop. This workshop will be equipped with computer-controlled machinery for cutting aluminum side panels, floor panels, and roof panels, which will then proceed to the welding production stage. This project is the next phase of the company's expansion at the Salt Lake City plant site.

Stadler began operations in Utah in 2016, initially leasing facilities, before opening a permanent manufacturing plant in Salt Lake City in 2019. The plant currently employs approximately 750 people.

The Salt Lake City plant manufactures trains for multiple railway operators across the United States, including Caltrain in California, Metra in the Chicago area, TexRail in Fort Worth, Texas, and MARTA in Atlanta.
