en.Wedoany.com Reported - At the LK5 platform drilling site in northern Shaanxi, PetroChina Changqing Oilfield completed over 50 high-intensity tripping operations on an old drilling rig through intelligent transformation. The upgraded rig uses a one-key tripping mode with attendant monitoring, significantly reducing on-site personnel and increasing tripping efficiency by over 10%.

The intelligent upgrade solution for the rig was provided by CNPC Baoshi Machinery Co., Ltd. The core of the transformation is the installation of a domestically produced intelligent control "brain," enabling an operation mode similar to "smart driving."

This control system, named iROS, was fully independently developed by Baoshi Machinery and is China's first intelligent control system for drilling rigs. The system features functions such as autonomous status recognition, one-key tripping, and driller-attended control, breaking the long-term foreign technological monopoly, filling the technical gaps in domestic intelligent drilling equipment, and achieving independent control of key technologies.

On the day of operation, driller Wang Zhiqiang activated the one-key tripping mode using a preset plan. After the command was issued, the drilling equipment automatically operated in coordination: the manipulator gripped the drill string, the iron roughneck automatically made up the connection, and the traveling block precisely and evenly lowered the load. The entire process required no manual intervention and was completed automatically in a closed loop. The drill pipe tripping process was smooth and continuous, with precise and controllable parameters, free from errors or fluctuations.

Wang Zhiqiang stated that during previous high-intensity continuous tripping operations, he had to stay fully alert and frequently manually control the speed. Now, he only needs to monitor the screen and observe equipment conditions, significantly reducing work pressure and making operations more standardized and stable.

This transformation involved four drilling rigs at the site. These rigs are traditional mainstay drilling equipment, long constrained by high reliance on manual labor. The upgrade achieved automated operation, standardized control of construction processes, and intelligent decision-making in the control system, laying the equipment foundation for a closed-loop intelligent drilling system.

Baoshi Machinery is driving the digital and intelligent transformation of oil and gas equipment through technological innovation. This domestically produced intelligent drilling "brain" revitalized existing equipment resources, solved practical production problems, and enhanced China's autonomous support capability for key oil and gas equipment.

Deputy team leader Fan Jianxin said that now they only need to monitor the equipment operation, making rig operation much easier and less labor-intensive. Drilling workers have transitioned from "physical labor" to "technical work," improving operational safety and job satisfaction.

Baoshi Machinery stated that it will continue to deepen its efforts in the intelligent oil and gas equipment field, using Chinese intelligent manufacturing to support PetroChina's high-quality development and inject intelligent momentum into energy security.
