US FAA Allocates $1.776 Billion for Airport Construction in 46 States

The U.S. Department of Transportation stated that the funds will be used for runway and taxiway work, terminal renovations, lighting projects, safety upgrades, and other airport infrastructure needs.

Airport Funding

Airports receiving significant funding include: Denver International Airport, with $88.8 million for pavement work; Boise Air Terminal/Gowen Field, with $74 million for runway rehabilitation, apron expansion, and visual guidance light upgrades; and Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, with $62.4 million for runway and runway lighting repairs.

Other airport allocations include: Houston Hobby Airport, with $62.2 million for runway construction; John F. Kennedy International Airport, with $47.6 million for taxiway construction and aircraft rescue and firefighting building; Orlando International Airport, with $36 million for terminal, taxiway, and lighting repairs; and Oakland International Airport, with $28.1 million for taxiway repairs.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy stated that there is no better way to celebrate America than by investing in the nation's future, noting that the U.S. is entering a golden age of transportation and that rebuilding airport infrastructure is crucial to realizing this vision.
