The contract, valued at INR 810.9 million, was signed on June 23, 2026, with a completion period of 365 days. It involves the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of standard gauge track infrastructure between Lighthouse Station and Poonamallee Bypass Station on Line 4.

Contract package C4 TRK 01 covers the section from Lighthouse Station to Poonamallee Bypass, including the remaining standard gauge track works for both underground and elevated sections, responsible for supply, installation, testing, and commissioning, along with all related activities. Specific tasks include track laying, installation of sleepers and fastening systems, ballast laying, and handling interface connections with civil structures, drainage, and utilities. The objective of this contract package is to ensure track system continuity across different alignments.

Pee Pee Mandal Projects secured the contract as the lowest bidder, with Avadh Rail Infra Limited deemed qualified during the financial evaluation stage. The contractor is required to coordinate with project authorities and other contractors responsible for civil, signaling, and electrification interfaces to achieve a unified delivery schedule. Ircon will oversee the implementation and compliance of technical specifications during the contract execution period.

This contract is part of the Chennai Metro Phase II expansion, which plans to add a total of 118.9 km of metro network across three lines. Line 4, also known as the Yellow Line, connects Lighthouse Station and Poonamallee Bypass Station, spanning 26.1 km, including 16 km of underground section and 10.1 km of elevated section, with a total of 28 metro stations passing through major residential, commercial, and employment areas. This track contract award aims to advance the construction progress of this line within the overall expansion plan.
