en.Wedoany.com Reported - The eight-story affordable housing project at 2125 Telegraph Avenue in Oakland's Uptown district has reached its structural top-out. The developer is Mercy Housing, with Cahill serving as the general contractor. The project plans to add nearly 100 residential units just a few blocks from the 19th Street Oakland BART station.

The eight-story building will provide 97 units, including 96 affordable studios and one two-bedroom apartment for an on-site property manager. Twenty of the units are designated as permanent supportive housing, specifically serving seniors who have exited homelessness. LifeLong Medical Care will provide case management services for these residents, offering personalized support in health, well-being, and long-term stability. Residential amenities include an outdoor courtyard, a community room, on-site laundry facilities, bicycle parking, and other services provided by Mercy Housing California.
The project architect is Gensler. Although exterior cladding installation has not yet begun, construction crews are about to cover the exterior with composite fiber cement panels and metal-framed windows. The design of the complex visually coordinates with the style and color palette of the Hamilton Apartments, a century-old building formerly used by the YMCA and now an affordable supportive housing complex owned by Mercy Housing.

The site, covering 0.2 acres, is located along Telegraph Avenue between 21st and 22nd Streets. Future residents will be just two blocks from the 19th Street BART station and about three blocks from Lake Merritt.
The groundbreaking ceremony was held in February, and the construction team achieved the structural top-out in less than six months. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2027, with full occupancy planned for March 2028.
