en.Wedoany.com Reported - Nasdaq-listed Castor Maritime has recently purchased two modern Kamsarmax bulk carriers, bringing its total expenditure in this segment to nearly $80 million.

The company, led by Petros Panagiotidis, acquired the 2024-built "Magic Saturn" for $41.9 million from an unrelated third party. The 82,000 dwt bulker was delivered to Castor on June 29, the same day the company also took delivery of the "Magic Jupiter." That vessel, a 2023-built modern eco-friendly Kamsarmax bulker, was acquired by Castor last week for $37.5 million. Both acquisitions were paid for with cash on hand.
The "Magic Saturn," previously named "Scion Mathilda," was delivered by Jiangsu New Hantong Ship Heavy Industry in August 2024, and is the first in a series of four vessels ordered by German Scion Shipping & Trading. The vessel was built to Lloyd's Register and Liberian flag requirements, supervised by Schulte Marine Concept, and managed by Asiatic Lloyd.
The "Magic Jupiter," formerly known as "Seacon Hamburg," originally belonged to Hong Kong-listed Seacon Shipping. Splash previously reported that prior to the "Magic Jupiter" transaction, Seacon had purchased the vessel from a Chinese leasing company.
With the addition of the "Magic Saturn," Castor Maritime's fleet has grown to 11 vessels. This newly acquired ship also becomes the youngest in the company's fleet.
