en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Salvador Cross-Sea Bridge project in Brazil commenced construction on July 1 local time. Undertaken by a Chinese enterprise, the project is located in Bahia State, connecting the state capital Salvador with Itaparica Island. Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Bahia State Governor Jerônimo Rodrigues, Chinese Ambassador to Brazil Zhu Qingqiao, and representatives of investors and builders attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

At the construction site, the Shanghai Jintai SD25A rotary drilling rig, a product of LiuGong, drove the first test pile for the project, making this equipment a representative of Chinese machinery in this mega-engineering endeavor.

The Salvador Cross-Sea Bridge is one of the largest infrastructure projects in Brazil to date. The bridge will span the Bay of All Saints, with a total length of 46.8 kilometers, including a 12.4-kilometer six-lane cross-sea bridge, a 4.2-kilometer road connection system in Salvador, and a 30.2-kilometer road system on Itaparica Island. Once completed, it will become the longest cross-sea bridge in Latin America, reshaping the regional logistics landscape, enhancing regional connectivity, and driving new investments in tourism, industry, commerce, and logistics.

The geological conditions in the bay for the cross-sea bridge construction are complex, and the pile foundation standards are stringent, imposing extremely high requirements on equipment stability, power performance, and intelligence. The Shanghai Jintai SD25A rotary drilling rig, tasked with the first pile construction, is specifically designed for complex working conditions. This equipment boasts ample power and precise control, enabling it to adapt to drilling operations under complex geological conditions such as bay soft soil and composite strata. It can intelligently match construction parameters, ensuring stable drilling and excellent pile quality to meet high-standard pile foundation construction needs. The equipment platform, developed by LiuGong, integrates decades of LiuGong's experience in engineering machinery R&D, ensuring stable adaptability to various complex overseas construction environments.
