en.Wedoany.com Reported - Chery Group held an inauguration ceremony at its Rosslyn Plant in Pretoria, South Africa. This production facility, originally built in 1963, has ushered in a new beginning under Chery's ownership, providing localized production support for the iCAUR brand, which is newly entering the South African market under Chery.
Approximately 350 guests attended the ceremony, including South African Deputy President Paul Mashatile, Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi, Tshwane Executive Mayor Nasiphi Moya, Chinese Ambassador to South Africa Wu Peng, Chery Automobile Chairman Yin Tongyue, Chery Automobile Executive Deputy General Manager Zhang Guibing, and Chery Automobile Deputy General Manager Zhang Shengshan.

At the ceremony, Chery Automobile Chairman Yin Tongyue stated that adhering to the philosophy of "In somewhere, For somewhere, Be somewhere," the company is committed to integrating into the local economy, community, and the future of the countries where it invests and operates. The plant has retained all 692 existing employees and is expected to support nearly 3,000 additional jobs in the supply chain.

Production at the plant is scheduled to commence in mid-2027, with an annual capacity of 50,000 vehicles on a single shift basis upon full operation. The plant is also striving to achieve an initial localization rate target of 40% by 2028. According to long-term plans, the Rosslyn Plant will be developed into a comprehensive automotive hub integrating R&D, manufacturing, supply chain, skills training, and export activities, providing more stable regional operations and service support for iCAUR.
The iCAUR brand launched the V23 model in the South African market on May 28 this year. By the end of the first month of launch, the model had received over 300 orders. In June, iCAUR collaborated with Red Bull to host a concert event in South Africa, attracting over 5,000 participants, promoting the brand's products to users through vehicle displays and interactive experiences.
