en.Wedoany.com Reported - KT Estate (KT에스테이트), a real estate management company under KT, has confirmed the appointment of former LG AI Research team leader Choi Jeong-gyu (최정규) as a senior executive, serving as the head of the Convergence Innovation Office.

Choi Jeong-gyu (최정규), Head of Convergence Innovation Office at KT Estate

Choi Jeong-gyu previously served as the head (Managing Director) of the Agentic AI (에이전틱AI) team at LG AI Research, overseeing research in voice recognition and processing, and leading the development of LG's proprietary AI foundation model (독파모). KT Estate is the comprehensive real estate company of the KT Group, covering real estate development and investment, construction project management, and leasing operations for branches nationwide. Against the backdrop of AI transformation (AX) becoming a core corporate agenda, this personnel appointment is seen as a key move to drive the formulation and execution of the company's AI convergence strategy.

Industry analysts suggest that this move may also be aimed at strengthening the overall AI technology development and strategic layout of the KT Group. During the first organizational restructuring under CEO Park Yoon-young, who took office at the end of March, Choi Jeong-gyu was reportedly earmarked for the role of KT's Chief Technology Officer (CTO), specifically as the "President of the AX Future Technology Institute." However, the appointment for this position was delayed and has remained vacant for four months. In response, some in the telecommunications industry believe that KT made this indirect arrangement to place Choi at KT Estate in order to reduce the possibility of legal disputes with LG, which competes in the AI field. KT has stated that there is no information to disclose regarding personnel matters.
