The delegation included Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Al-Ghamdi, President of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA); Ambassador Abdulmohsen bin Majed bin Khothaila, Saudi Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office at Geneva; Dr. Latifa bint Mohammed Al-Abdulkarim, member of the UN High-Level Advisory Body on Artificial Intelligence; as well as representatives from the Human Rights Commission and the King Abdulaziz Center for Cultural Communication.
The delegation's participation in the dialogue highlights Saudi Arabia's established global standing in the fields of information technology, data, and artificial intelligence, as well as the progress made in building a comprehensive national information and AI ecosystem under the Saudi Vision 2030. Saudi Arabia's attendance aimed to enhance its capacity as an influential partner in shaping advanced technologies and international forums, and to contribute to the development of a responsible global governance framework for AI.
This move reaffirms Saudi Arabia's commitment to supporting the international community in establishing a comprehensive, secure, and trustworthy AI governance system, strengthening international cooperation to bridge gaps in the AI field, and promoting equitable access to AI's potential, thereby advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. It also reflects Saudi Arabia's active engagement in shaping the future of global AI governance through experience exchange, strengthening international partnerships, and supporting relevant initiatives.
