en.Wedoany.com Reported - stc Group and Huawei have successfully deployed an innovative full-duplex solution in the Riyadh region of Saudi Arabia, marking the first deployment of such technology in the country.

Full-duplex technology enables a single connection to transmit and receive data simultaneously on the same frequency, with a transmission capacity of up to 50 Gbps, providing highly reliable protected connections for critical social and public infrastructure. This solution can improve spectrum efficiency by up to 200%, supporting high-bandwidth 5G transmission, particularly suitable for suburban and emerging coverage areas.
Saudi Arabia launched nationwide 5G services in 2019 and is one of the global leaders in 5G development. A significant portion of the country's 5G network relies on microwave links, which transmit data between mobile base stations and the broader network. Traditional microwave transmission requires two separate frequency channels for sending and receiving data, limiting capacity expansion when spectrum is scarce and posing challenges for critical infrastructure to obtain reliable, high-capacity connections.
To address these issues, stc and Huawei jointly developed the full-duplex solution. By operating on a single frequency channel, this solution reduces spectrum consumption, simplifies network architecture, and maintains ultra-high capacity with built-in protection mechanisms, offering a more efficient and resilient connectivity option. This deployment is part of the long-term collaboration between stc and Huawei, both committed to advancing next-generation 5G transmission technologies. The solution helps extend high-capacity 5G networks beyond urban centers, providing a foundation for future applications and supporting Saudi Arabia's digital transformation.
