Wedoany.com Report-Apr. 21, Technip Energies NV, a French technology and engineering company, has been appointed as the front-end engineering design (FEED) contractor for Project Ulysses, a bioethanol-to-sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) facility developed by Jet Zero Australia.

The FEED contract encompasses a comprehensive set of engineering tasks, documentation, and planning for the project, which is located in Townsville, North Queensland. Supported by state grants, Project Ulysses aims to produce 102 million liters of SAF and 11 million liters of renewable diesel annually by 2028.

The facility will utilize Technip Energies’ Hummingbird technology to convert bioethanol into sustainable ethylene. Subsequently, LanzaJet’s alcohol-to-jet technology will transform the ethylene into SAF, enabling the production of environmentally friendly aviation fuel.

This collaboration highlights Technip Energies’ expertise in delivering advanced engineering solutions for sustainable energy projects. The project aligns with global efforts to reduce carbon emissions in the aviation sector by providing a renewable alternative to traditional jet fuel.

Project Ulysses is expected to contribute significantly to Australia’s renewable energy landscape, leveraging innovative technologies to meet growing demand for sustainable fuels. The initiative underscores the commitment of both Technip Energies and Jet Zero Australia to advancing clean energy solutions and supporting environmental sustainability goals in the region.
