en.Wedoany.com Reported - US aircraft manufacturer Cirrus has confirmed that it is launching a newly designed dedicated pilot training aircraft, designated the TRAC10, with a target entry into service in 2027. The Minnesota-based aircraft manufacturer had previously hinted at developing a new trainer aircraft.

Cirrus CEO Zean Nielsen confirmed the project on July 6, stating that the TRAC10 is the company's most thoughtful solution to date for the successful operation of professional flight schools. While Cirrus has previously offered trainer configurations for its five-seat SR series single-engine propeller aircraft, this new three-seat TRAC10 is described as a "custom" aircraft designed specifically for the needs of flight schools.

Cirrus released photos of the TRAC10 on July 6, including one of an aircraft in flight with registration number N204DR. According to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) records, the aircraft is a 2025 model "SR10." Pat Waddick, President of Innovation and Operations, stated that the TRAC10 is a complete reimagining of a modern trainer aircraft, featuring advanced technology delivered through a simple and intuitive interface.

The TRAC10 will be powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder piston engine, the Rotax 916 ISC. This engine produces 160 horsepower (119 kW) and consumes 22.3 liters (5.9 US gallons) of fuel per hour at 65% cruise power. The aircraft features a three-blade propeller and a FADEC engine control system. Cirrus states that the Rotax engine reduces pilot workload through automatic fuel management, ensures reliability through built-in redundancy, and maximizes ease of operation.

The company's existing trainer product line includes the TRAC20 (based on the SR20) powered by a Lycoming IO-390-C3B6 engine, the TRAC22 (SR22) powered by a Continental IO-550-N engine, and the TRAC22T (SR22T) powered by a TSIO-550 engine. Cirrus stated it will not discontinue sales of these trainers.

The new TRAC10 will be equipped with the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System. Garmin will provide the avionics suite, which includes the Electronic Stability & Protection System designed to prevent the aircraft from exceeding climb, descent, and bank limits. Additionally, the avionics suite includes the "Blue Level Button" system, which is designed to automatically return the aircraft to straight and level flight.

In addition to the two front seats, the TRAC10 features a raised observer seat in the rear "for optimal cockpit visibility." The company stated that the seats and rudder pedals are adjustable to accommodate students and instructors of different heights.

Cirrus will manufacture the trainer at its facility in Duluth, Minnesota, and expects to deliver the first TRAC10 to a US customer in 2027. The company has priced the TRAC10 at $499,900. Currently, the company has received orders for over 100 units from 13 flight schools.
