en.Wedoany.com Reported - Bentley Systems has announced an expansion of its investment in Japan, establishing a new regional headquarters in Tokyo and planning to grow its local workforce over the next three years. This initiative comes as Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism advances its "i-Construction" program, which mandates nationwide 3D digital delivery by 2029. Bentley stated that it will leverage local expertise, technical support, and training to help engineering firms transition from 2D to 3D workflows, addressing Japan's ongoing labor constraints.

Bentley's software in Japan aims to cover digital delivery across the entire lifecycle of design, construction, and operations. Its platform is designed to connect workflows and integrate above-ground and below-ground data, enabling infrastructure teams to create and manage 3D models across disciplines.

Related technologies include Bentley's Cesium technology for 3D geospatial visualization—which has been used as the foundation for Japan's "PLATEAU Project"; Seequent's geotechnical subsurface modeling and analysis tools; and the iTwin platform for synchronizing engineering and asset data throughout the infrastructure lifecycle.

Some of these technologies are already in use in Japan. Bentley's Cesium and digital twin tools are part of the EARTHBRAIN smart construction solution, provided by a joint venture formed by Komatsu, NTT DOCOMO, Sony Semiconductor Solutions, and Nomura Research Institute, to connect design, simulation, and earthwork execution in a shared digital environment. Seequent is also used in Japan for infrastructure, geothermal, and mining projects involving subsurface analysis.

Bentley recently appointed Keishi Kono as General Manager for Japan. The company is collaborating with regional partners to promote 3D digital delivery across all 47 prefectures in Japan. Its public priorities include continuing partnerships with EARTHBRAIN and FUKUI COMPUTER, and expanding channels through partners such as JIP, NewtonWorks Corp., ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corp., and Mirukuru.

As Japan advances toward its 2029 3D digital delivery target, Bentley plans to continue expanding its local operations and partner network in the country.
