en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Hudson Bay Railway is expanding its role as a transportation corridor for Western Canada's mining and critical minerals sector, with new shipments of mineral concentrates from northern Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
Arctic Gateway Group has revealed that Eldorado Gold Saskatchewan will soon use the railway's Flin Flon branch line to transport concentrates from its McIlvenna Bay mine in northern Saskatchewan to Eastern Canada. The mine became part of Eldorado Gold following its acquisition of Foran Mining and was designated as a nationally significant project by Prime Minister Mark Carney last fall.
Chris Avery, CEO of Arctic Gateway Group, stated that the Hudson Bay Railway is transporting materials that help build Canada's future economy. Concentrates from a national critical minerals project—designated as nationally significant, just like the Port of Churchill—will soon be shipped via this railway, highlighting the railway's improvements and its growing role in supporting Western Canada's mining, industrial development, and trade diversification.
The company noted that the railway has undergone significant upgrades in recent years and is working to meet modern North American industrial weight standards to better integrate with Canada's Class I rail network.
Arctic Gateway Group also stated that zinc concentrates from Hudbay Minerals' operations at Snow Lake, Manitoba, will be shipped through the Port of Churchill to European markets later this summer, marking the third consecutive year the company has used this corridor.
