en.Wedoany.com Reported - Falkirk Council has selected Stallan Brand Architects to design the new £70 million Falkirk Town Hall.

The Glasgow-based architecture firm, which worked on the Falkirk Wheel and has extensive experience in theatre and cultural venues such as Glasgow's Tron Theatre and SWG3, will now finalize the town hall's design and spatial layout based on extensive feedback gathered from previous public consultations. These outcomes will form the basis for subsequent pre-planning applications and business case development.

Falkirk Council added that the overall project is progressing well, with the former Callendar Square Centre and Antonine Hotel sites already demolished and leveled in preparation for construction. Once completed, the new building will feature a main auditorium seating 550 to 600, a studio theatre, Falkirk Central Library, an advice and support centre, a café and bar, workshop and dance spaces, as well as multi-purpose areas for flexible municipal and community use.

After the design is finalized, the council will hold a public consultation on the venue's name and submit recommendations to councillors for a final decision.

Falkirk Council Leader Councillor Cecil Meiklejohn noted that Stallan Brand is an award-winning practice widely recognized for its flexible and iconic designs. He stated that the final scheme will fully incorporate feedback from last year's extensive consultation, in which thousands of individuals and groups shared their views on how the project should reflect community aspirations. This marks a significant step forward for the project and demonstrates an ongoing commitment to delivering a high-quality, future-proof venue.

Stallan-Brand Design Director Paul Stallan said that as one of Scotland's leading architecture firms, the company's core drive is to address poverty, inequality, and health issues through inspiring architecture and places that connect people. The new town hall project aims to unite the community by creating inclusive public spaces and activities, fostering a more vibrant town centre. He pledged to champion human-centered design, responding to residents' real needs and local regeneration plans, and expressed deep honor at being entrusted with the design leadership.

The new venue is expected to open in 2028/29, depending on planning, procurement, and construction timelines.
