en.Wedoany.com Reported - The £4 million renovation of Galston Town Hall, led by East Ayrshire Council, has been completed, and the building has reopened to the public. The project began in January 2024 and was completed in March 2026, carried out by Clark Contracts on behalf of the council.

The renovated building has transformed the former council offices into a public library, relocated from Henrietta Street. The new facility also houses a Skills and Learning Centre, designed to help residents acquire skills for employment and education. Local firm Character Joinery was commissioned to restore the original council chamber desk, which has been placed in the new library's core area.

The main hall on the first floor retains its wood paneling, large fireplace, and decorative ceiling, serving as a flexible community space for meetings, small events, and exhibitions. A new square has been built outside the building for outdoor gatherings. Councillor Douglas Reid, leader of East Ayrshire Council, stated that the building has been redesigned to serve local daily needs, with the new library catering to readers of all ages, the Skills and Learning Centre providing dedicated spaces for young people and adults, the restored hall becoming an adaptable venue, and the outdoor area designed specifically for community activities. The project also highlights local historical figures, including Lady Flora Hastings, poet Janet Little, and Reverend Robert Stirling.
