en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Consorcio de Gestión del Puerto San Pedro has announced the start of maintenance dredging in the turning basin, a crucial step to ensure the safety and operational capacity of vessels entering and leaving the port.

The project plans to deploy the dredger "Dasa I" to remove approximately 100,000 cubic meters of sediment, which will be discharged at a pre-approved dumping site in compliance with all current technical and environmental regulations.

The winning bidder, Argentine dredging company Dasa S.A. (Dragados Argentinos Dasa S.A.), has submitted documents to the Argentine Naval Prefecture (Prefectura Naval Argentina) to request the determination of water depths before construction begins, and has formally notified the start of the project under the authorization of the National Ports and Navigation Agency (Agencia Nacional de Puertos y Navegación).

The Consorcio de Gestión del Puerto San Pedro stated that these works stem from Public Tender No. 01/2026, which was opened at its headquarters on May 14 of this year. Two bids were received at that time, and the winner was determined after technical and administrative analysis.

The agency emphasized that maintenance dredging is a strategic task for the Port of San Pedro, helping to maintain navigable conditions in the basin, optimize dock operations, and provide greater predictability for commercial activities, thereby enhancing the port's competitiveness and its contribution to regional production and logistics development.
