en.Wedoany.com Reported - LG U+ has partnered with the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) to build an AI-based voice spam call response system. By integrating LG U+'s AI service Ixi-O (익시오) with KISA's public data, the system upgrades the spam call number blocking mechanism. Voice spam calls, such as illegal advertising calls, not only cause inconvenience to users but may also be used for voice phishing crimes, evolving into a social issue. Due to the direct connection nature of voice calls, users find it difficult to instantly judge authenticity, leading to relatively higher risks of victimization. In the second half of last year, the volume of mobile voice spam calls received more than doubled compared to the first half, reaching the highest level in five years, making the need for a preemptive blocking system increasingly urgent.
The core of the collaboration lies in connecting publicly held spam call report data with AI technology to create a "virtuous cycle structure of public-private data." This marks a shift in spam call blocking methods from a primarily post-incident response approach to a system that identifies suspicious numbers early and proactively blocks them. KISA holds approximately 15 million voice spam call report data entries annually, which will be analyzed through LG U+'s Ixi-O to improve the accuracy of spam call identification and shorten the response time for spam phone numbers.
Additionally, LG U+ uses AI to analyze call patterns and spam call characteristics to predict spam call risk levels, while KISA connects this with the public blocking system to expand the scope of response to new types of spam calls. This initiative is expected to accelerate the response speed to new spam phone numbers, broaden the blocking range, and significantly reduce the number of voice spam calls actually received by users. Choi Yun-ho (최윤호), head of LG U+'s AI Business Group, stated that he expects to further strengthen user protection capabilities by connecting public data and AI technology. While helping to revitalize the spam call reporting ecosystem, the company will continue to expand the virtuous cycle structure of public-private data, creating an environment where customers can use communication services more safely.
