en.Wedoany.com Reported - Norwegian toll road operator Ferde has signed a contract with Q-Free to replace roadside toll infrastructure at six toll stations in western Norway, specifically including the replacement of roadside systems at selected stations in Førde and Bømlo. The project scope involves the delivery, installation, and commissioning of new Q-Free roadside equipment, along with the removal of existing facilities and structural upgrades to ensure long-term operational stability.
The solution is based on Q-Free's proven three-gantry portal architecture, fully compliant with Norway's AutoPASS requirements. Q-Free will serve as the main contractor for the project, collaborating with local installation partners. Installation is scheduled for later this year and is expected to be completed within a maximum of two weeks to minimize disruption to traffic and road users. Ferde Chief Technology Officer Tor Hilmar Stavang stated that Ferde looks forward to continuing its collaboration with Q-Free on the replacement of these toll stations, describing it as a significant delivery that must ensure reliable and high-quality performance throughout its entire lifecycle.
Q-Free CEO Mark Talbot said that as a company headquartered in Norway, this contract is of great significance to Q-Free, and he congratulated the team for winning the contract through expertise, collaboration, and dedication. He believes the agreement is a strong validation of Q-Free's technology, services, and long-term commitment to Norway.
Under the agreement, Q-Free will own, operate, maintain, and support the roadside infrastructure throughout the contract period. The contract includes performance requirements designed to ensure high accuracy, reliability, and operational availability, even under Norway's demanding environmental conditions. Q-Free has a long history of collaboration with Ferde, and this contract solidifies Q-Free's position as a leading toll solution provider in Norway, also reflecting the increasing adoption by customers of Q-Free's recurring revenue service model—which combines advanced roadside technology with long-term operational support and maintenance.
Vegard Thomassen, Vice President of Operations for Q-Free Norway and Denmark, stated that Ferde's decision demonstrates continued confidence in Q-Free's ability to deliver reliable toll solutions that enable rapid deployment and long-term operational excellence. He looks forward to continued collaboration and supporting Ferde's infrastructure goals for many years to come.
