en.Wedoany.com Reported - Antamina, the Regional Government of Áncash (Gobierno Regional de Áncash), and the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism of Peru (Mincetur) have jointly signed a "Joint Interest Statement" to advance the preparation of technical documents for a public tourism investment project in the town of Chavín de Huántar. The goal of this initiative is to strengthen the infrastructure and tourism services at this renowned cultural heritage site.

The core objective of the project is to complete the preparation of technical documents, laying the groundwork for subsequent infrastructure improvements to enhance the visitor experience, boost the tourism competitiveness of the Chavín de Huántar district in the Huari province, and create new development opportunities for local residents.

The statement demonstrates the three parties' willingness to collaboratively promote responsible and sustainable investments, contributing to the protection, enhancement, and sustainable use of the Chavín de Huántar archaeological site. Recognized for its historical and archaeological value, the site is one of Peru's important cultural heritage assets.

The signing ceremony took place during the "Tourism Investment Roadshow – Áncash Region" event hosted by Mincetur. The event brought together national and local government officials, private sector representatives, and investors, aiming to promote strategic projects related to regional tourism development.

Antamina's support for Chavín de Huántar has spanned over 15 years. The company has long funded the Chavín de Huántar Archaeological Research and Conservation Project, led by Dr. John W. Rick of Stanford University. In recent years, the project has yielded several discoveries, including the Galería del Cóndor (Condor Gallery) in 2022 and three new passageways found in the southern gallery of the architectural complex in 2023. These findings further reveal the value of this ceremonial center, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985, and highlight the tourism potential that the new alliance aims to enhance.
