OMS Group Cuts Steel for Third GREAT-Class Vessel in Poland
en.Wedoany.com Reported - OMS Group held its first steel-cutting ceremony for the CS Resilience, the third vessel in its next-generation GREAT-class fleet, at the CRIST S.A. shipyard in Gdynia, Poland, marking the official start of construction.
The steel cutting for the CS Resilience follows OMS Group's announcement in January 2026 of a collaboration with ULSTEIN® to design and build two next-generation cable-laying vessels. Together with the CS Genesis and CS Triumph, the CS Resilience forms part of OMS Group's GREAT-class fleet program, aimed at enhancing subsea installation capabilities, operational excellence, and sustainability.
Datuk Lim Soon Foo, Founder and Chairman of OMS Group, stated that the steel cutting for the CS Resilience marks another milestone in the company's long-term vision to build the world's most capable and sustainable fleet of cable-laying vessels. The Group chose to partner with ULSTEIN for its commitment to innovation, quality, operational excellence, and sustainability, as well as its expertise in advanced ship design and complex marine operations.
The CS Resilience is one of two next-generation cable-laying vessels being built in collaboration with ULSTEIN® and is scheduled to enter service in 2028. The vessel features the ULSTEIN X-BOW® design and ULSTEIN POWER Variable Speed Generator (VSG) technology, aiming to achieve superior cable installation capabilities while minimizing environmental impact. The X-BOW® design improves seakeeping and operational stability, while VSG technology optimizes energy consumption and reduces emissions.
Ronnie Lim, CEO of OMS Group, stated that the CS Resilience embodies the next generation of cable-laying vessels by integrating ULSTEIN's design philosophy and advanced technologies. These innovations will enhance installation performance, improve operational reliability, and support the delivery of more sustainable subsea infrastructure solutions for clients.
The start of construction at CRIST S.A. marks the transition of the project from design to production, reflecting the collaboration between OMS Group, ULSTEIN®, and CRIST S.A.
Emmanuel Delanoue, Deputy Group CEO and CEO of the Telecom Division at OMS Group, added that the name "Resilience" reflects OMS Group's ability to adapt, innovate, and support the world's critical communication infrastructure in the most challenging environments. The vessel is designed to meet the evolving technical requirements of the subsea telecommunications industry, combining advanced ship design with operational technologies to achieve higher installation efficiency, reliability, and environmental performance.
The CS Genesis, CS Triumph, CS Resilience, and CS Alliance together represent OMS Group's largest-ever fleet investment. Through the GREAT-class fleet program, OMS Group continues to enhance its capabilities to support global telecommunications network expansion and advance its mission to bridge the digital divide through sustainable, end-to-end digital infrastructure solutions.
