Huisman Secures Order for 4 Cranes for Two Offshore Vessels
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 29, Dutch offshore engineering equipment manufacturer Huisman secured a crane supply order from Siem Industries for two newly built subsea construction vessels. The contract covers 2 × 400-ton knuckle-boom main cranes and 2 × 50-ton auxiliary cranes, totaling 4 units. The two vessels are under construction at Mawei Shipbuilding in Fujian, China, and the supporting crane equipment will be manufactured at Huisman's production facility in Zhangzhou, Fujian.

Both 400-ton main cranes are equipped with below-deck winches and offer a maximum lifting capacity of 400 tons in single-fall configuration, achieving active heave compensation at full load through Huisman's secondary control drive system. The equipment features a maximum hook travel of up to 3,000 meters and a high-position lifting mode that enables the handling of large heavy loads with the boom extended.
The main cranes are fitted with a fifth-generation motion controller and a LiDAR-based active anti-collision system, incorporating load peak shaving and enhanced off-bottom lift modes, and support energy-efficient operation and coordinated control with the vessel's power management system. The two 50-ton auxiliary cranes also possess deepwater operational capability and will work alongside the main cranes to undertake the vessels' subsea equipment lifting and offshore construction tasks.
The two supporting vessels are scheduled for delivery in 2029 and 2030 respectively, with both crane manufacturing and vessel construction carried out within Fujian Province, China.
