en.Wedoany.com Reported - Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia stated that Indonesia plans to utilize its surplus of low-quality diesel to independently produce aviation fuel.

This year, Indonesia's surplus of low-quality diesel is expected to reach 3 million to 4 million kiloliters. This excess is primarily attributed to the capacity expansion of the Balikpapan refinery and the mandatory implementation of the B50 biodiesel policy, which blends 50% palm oil content.

The Indonesian Ministry of Energy has begun formulating an implementation plan for this initiative in collaboration with Pertamina, the national oil company. A project roadmap is being drafted, and construction of a pilot aviation fuel production plant is expected to commence by the end of 2026. Authorities plan to use this to completely halt imports of aviation kerosene in the future.

Additionally, Indonesia aims to fully meet domestic demand for gasoline with an octane rating of no less than RON 92 using its own production capacity, thereby reducing import costs. Bahlil emphasized that the key goal remains achieving localized production of all essential fuel products domestically.
