en.Wedoany.com Reported - After completing its monthly review, the Peruvian Energy and Mining Regulatory Agency (Osinergmin) announced that, effective July 4, 2026, electricity tariffs for residential users connected to the National Interconnected Electric System (SEIN) will decrease by an average of 0.39%, while tariffs for commercial and industrial users will drop by an average of 0.21%. This tariff adjustment is based on the efficient cost structure of generation, transmission, and distribution to end users.

In accordance with current regulations, Osinergmin reviews electricity tariffs on a monthly basis. The review is based on update formulas and indicators such as the Wholesale Price Index (IPM), exchange rates, natural gas prices, fuel prices, and copper and aluminum prices, while also considering contracts signed between generation and distribution companies for supplying electricity to users.

The reduction in SEIN electricity tariffs for July is driven by multiple factors. The 138 kV Puerto Maldonado-Iberia transmission line has entered commercial operation. Additionally, the unit tolls for access to the main transmission system, as well as tolls and compensation fees for secondary and auxiliary transmission systems, determined in May 2026, have been adjusted following a review.

Meanwhile, the update formulas for fixed charges and the Value Added of Distribution (VAD) have also been revised due to changes in the Wholesale Price Index (IPM), exchange rates, and copper and aluminum prices.

For isolated power systems, electricity tariffs for residential users will fluctuate by an average of 1.84%, while those for commercial and industrial users will fluctuate by an average of 4.03%. These changes are attributed to variations in the effective nodal prices determined in May 2026, which were further updated this month due to changes in the IPM and fuel (diesel) prices. The update formulas for fixed charges and the Value Added of Distribution (VAD) are also affected by changes in the IPM, exchange rates, and copper and aluminum prices.
