en.Wedoany.com Reported - The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and electric mobility company TAILG signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Green Mobility Centre of Excellence (GM-CoE) in Kenya, jointly launching the "Green Ride Africa" initiative. This strategic partnership aims to accelerate Africa's transition to sustainable transportation through multi-dimensional cooperation in technological innovation, ecological development, and industrial incubation, supporting the achievement of regional sustainable development goals. This signing marks TAILG's renewed collaboration with the United Nations system in global low-carbon governance, following seven years of partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

TAILG President Yao Li

The "Green Ride Africa" initiative builds on UNDP's Africa Electric Mobility Pilot Project, promoting the transition of two- and three-wheelers from fuel to electric power, and integrating local photovoltaic and energy storage infrastructure. Leveraging clean energy for transportation, the initiative aims to reduce carbon emissions, improve mobility conditions, support sustainable development in Africa, and benefit local communities. Based on long-term observation of TAILG's practical performance in clean transportation development, UNDP selected TAILG as the corporate partner for the Green Mobility Centre of Excellence project.

Green Mobility in Africa

The MoU establishes a comprehensive framework for long-term, stable, and structured cooperation between the two parties. Both sides have identified the joint establishment, operation, and large-scale development of the Green Mobility Centre of Excellence as a key starting point for continuously driving the growth of Africa's green and low-carbon mobility industry. As a key partner in this project, TAILG will fully participate in project operations and governance, the establishment of innovation systems, the implementation of ecosystem projects, and international technical exchanges, creating a professional and sustainable platform for Africa's green technology innovation industry.

Currently, green mobility has become a core focus area for sustainable development in Africa. Africa's transition to low-carbon transportation requires nurturing local technological innovation capabilities, improving the green industry ecosystem, and developing technology solutions tailored to local conditions. This strategic partnership will integrate UNDP's global platform resources, international governance experience, and regional empowerment capabilities with TAILG's integrated electric mobility solutions covering product R&D, manufacturing, and supply chain, as well as its global implementation experience. The aim is to systematically stimulate local technological innovation and establish a replicable and scalable new model for green transportation development in Africa.

According to the MoU, the two parties will establish a full-chain cooperation system centered on "strategic guidance, technological empowerment, innovation incubation, and market implementation." TAILG will participate deeply as a partner in the construction of the green technology center, providing top-level strategic guidance for the development of Africa's green mobility industry and establishing a regular mechanism for international industrial exchange and collaborative cooperation. The two parties will jointly launch a series of special programs, including a green mobility innovation challenge, technical exchanges, and entrepreneurial incubation. Leveraging TAILG's core technical expertise in electric two/three-wheeler technology, full lifecycle battery management, and smart charging and swapping infrastructure, as well as its global supply chain network, this partnership will provide full-cycle support for local green mobility innovation solutions in Africa, covering technology iteration, scenario testing, pilot validation, and commercial deployment.

In terms of industrial ecosystem cooperation, TAILG's strategic partner Sunwoda Depower Energy will provide support for batteries and energy storage systems, and will work with TAILG to advance integrated solar-storage-charging-swapping solutions, battery recycling, and the standardization of battery passports. With an annual production capacity exceeding 15 million units, products and services covering over 70 countries and regions, and seven R&D and manufacturing bases, TAILG possesses full industry chain capabilities encompassing core R&D, intelligent manufacturing, system integration, and global operations and maintenance.

TAILG President Yao Li stated that the innovative development of green transportation must adhere to the three principles of practicality, inclusiveness, and localization. This strategic cooperation with UNDP is a significant milestone in TAILG's global growth and sustainable development journey. TAILG will leverage new energy two-wheeler technology to jointly advance green mobility, fuel-to-electric conversion, and carbon reduction projects in Africa, share China's low-carbon transportation solutions, and promote the long-term development of the regional green economy.

This strategic partnership is a key initiative for TAILG to put global sustainable development principles into practice and deepen its presence in the green mobility market. TAILG will continue to collaborate with UN authorities and global partners, leveraging cutting-edge technology, superior products, and ecosystem-building capabilities to promote the widespread application, localization, and industrialization of green electric mobility.
