en.Wedoany.com Reported - Idex Group, a French energy transition company, has formed a strategic partnership with carbon capture provider Nuada to deploy one of Europe's first industrial-scale facilities dedicated to the capture, utilization, and storage of biogenic carbon dioxide in France.

Idex and Nuada Launch a Breakthrough 10,000-Ton BECCS Center in France - Carbon Herald

The project, installed at Idex's Kogeban biomass cogeneration plant in the Somme department of France, is designed to capture up to 10,000 metric tons of biogenic emissions annually from the plant's flue gas. This installation marks a commercial leap for Nuada's next-generation capture platform. Nuada's process replaces traditional, energy-intensive chemical amine solvents with ultra-porous Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) that mechanically filter and trap carbon dioxide. The system operates on a fully electrified loop, significantly reducing the parasitic energy consumption required for conventional thermal regeneration. Its compact, modular design allows for seamless integration into operating energy plants without disrupting existing heat and power output.

Beyond the technical validation of MOF chemistry, the project establishes a localized circular carbon value chain. The captured carbon dioxide will follow two distinct economic pathways: a portion will be purified and liquefied on-site to food and beverage grade standards, directly replacing the fossil-derived carbon dioxide traditionally used by regional manufacturers; the remaining biogenic carbon dioxide will be transported for deep geological storage. Since the original biomass feedstock absorbed atmospheric carbon during its growth, permanently sequestering these process emissions generates highly durable "negative emissions."

Supported by regional bodies including Nord France Invest and the Somme Prefecture, the project is positioned as an economic driver for the Hauts-de-France region, creating direct, high-skilled engineering jobs while providing a scalable blueprint for European biogenic carbon capture and storage infrastructure.
