en.Wedoany.com Reported - Philippine Airlines (PAL) plans to order widebody aircraft at the 2026 Farnborough Airshow, including 15 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners and 9 Airbus A350-1000s. This will mark the carrier's first aircraft order from Boeing in nearly two decades. The widebody order is expected to be officially announced during the Farnborough Airshow, which opens this month.

According to industry sources, Philippine Airlines' decision to order the Boeing 787-10 will also trigger a separate competition between Rolls-Royce and GE Aerospace for the engine selection. Currently, PAL's widebody fleet consists of older-generation Airbus A330s, Boeing 777s, and a small number of newer A350s. This procurement is seen as a key step in modernizing its widebody fleet.

Before the order plan was finalized, PAL's president stated at an industry summit in June that the company planned to order new aircraft in the coming months. Bloomberg previously reported that the carrier had decided to split an order of approximately 20 aircraft between Airbus and Boeing. As a major trading platform for the global aviation industry, the Farnborough Airshow has historically been a key venue for new aircraft orders. During the 2024 airshow, several large orders from airlines such as Qatar Airways and flynas were announced.
