en.Wedoany.com Reported - Topsoe and Sasol have signed a single licensing agreement with SUSTAERO, a Canadian sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production infrastructure developer, to provide Gas-to-Liquids synthetic fuel (G2LTM) technology.

The technology integrates Topsoe's hydrogen production, gas reforming, and hydroprocessing solutions, along with Sasol's Fischer-Tropsch synthesis and processing technologies. Once fully operational, the facility is expected to produce over 3,200 barrels of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) per day, with the potential to scale up to three times the initial capacity.

Yassir Ghiyati, Chief Commercial Officer of Topsoe, stated that the project demonstrates how mature technologies and close collaboration can accelerate the large-scale commercialization of renewable fuels. Sarushen Pillay, Executive Vice President of Business Building, Strategy, and Technology at Sasol, noted that SUSTAERO selected Sasol for its biomass-to-liquids facility, and Sasol will provide an integrated Fischer-Tropsch (FT) solution to reduce project risk, improve product yield, and enhance overall bankability. Keith Gillard, CEO of SUSTAERO, said that integrating G2L technology strengthens its aviation renewable synthesis gas optimization (SOAR™) architecture and reduces project risk.

According to data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), global SAF production is expected to reach 1.9 million tons, double the 1 million tons produced in 2024. This agreement aligns with the growing demand trend in the SAF market.
