Uniper Signs Agreement to Procure 40,000 Tons per Year of eSAF from Denmark's Project Endor

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 23, Uniper signed a long-term eSAF offtake agreement with Arcadia eFuels. Under the agreement, Uniper will procure 40,000 tons per year of electro-sustainable aviation fuel (eSAF) from Arcadia eFuels' Project Endor in Vordingborg, Denmark, with a contract term of more than 10 years. The agreement is legally binding, with actual supply still subject to the satisfaction of agreed conditions precedent and the project achieving commercial operation, currently planned to begin in the early 2030s.

Project Endor is planned to produce approximately 80,000 tons per year of eFuels, primarily eSAF, corresponding to approximately 100 million liters of annual output. Based on the current contracted volume, Uniper's locked-in procurement of 40,000 tons per year accounts for approximately half of the project's planned annual output. The project adopts a Power-to-Liquid route, using renewable electricity to produce green hydrogen, which is combined with captured carbon dioxide and processed through syngas, Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, and subsequent refining to produce eSAF.
The project has completed front-end engineering design (FEED). Arcadia eFuels previously disclosed that Technip Energies participated in the project FEED, Topsoe and Sasol are providing technologies related to syngas, Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, and product hydrocracking, Plug Power is responsible for electrolyzer supply, and Veolia is undertaking the water treatment solution. The project's on-site green hydrogen system is planned to have 240 MW of water electrolysis capacity.
In 2025, Project Endor obtained an environmental permit from the Danish environmental authorities, covering the full production process including water treatment, electrolysis, Fischer-Tropsch reaction, and final eSAF refining. The project's overall electricity demand is approximately 360 MW, and it plans to use approximately 260,000 tons of carbon dioxide per year. Hitachi Energy has been contracted to undertake the project's complete electrical infrastructure, including grid connection, battery energy storage systems, and electrical systems engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning.
In March 2026, Project Endor signed an Innovation Fund grant agreement with the European Commission, entering the scope of projects supported by the EU Innovation Fund. This long-term offtake agreement with Uniper further secures the project's future product sales side, with the contracted annual procurement volume equivalent to the fuel required for approximately 1,000 Boeing 787-9 flights on the Düsseldorf to Abu Dhabi route.
