en.Wedoany.com Reported - Emirates is adjusting its Airbus A380 network. The airline has confirmed that it will not operate the superjumbo on flights from Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Glasgow, Hong Kong, Osaka Kansai, Perth, or Prague in August this year.
Currently, none of these five routes are served by the double-decker aircraft. Most were originally scheduled to resume A380 operations in August, but the resumption has been delayed again due to the ongoing war in Iran. This news comes from schedule updates submitted by Emirates to platforms such as Cirium Diio and OAG over the past weekend, with further adjustments expected in the coming weeks.

According to the latest plan, superjumbo services on these five markets are set to resume from September 1. However, it would not be surprising if the resumption date is pushed back to October 1, largely depending on the progress of the war. Some routes have recently resumed A380 operations again.
The situation at Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) is noteworthy. Emirates currently operates A380 flights from Dubai to Hong Kong via Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), with fifth-freedom rights between BKK and HKG, but the aircraft type does not currently fly direct from Dubai to Hong Kong. Emirates has planned three daily double-decker flights to Hong Kong starting October 1: two direct and one via BKK. According to schedules submitted to Cirium, the last time A380 flight frequencies appeared was in 2020.

The Gulf aviation giant has been operating the Glasgow (GLA) route since April 2004. Over 22 years, it has deployed aircraft including the Airbus A330-200, A340-300, A350-900, A380, Boeing 777-200LR, and 777-300ER, although some of these aircraft appeared only briefly. Emirates once operated up to two daily flights to this Scottish airport, though the last time was in early 2020. After a single service in 2014, the A380 began regular operations to GLA in 2019. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the aircraft type did not return to normal use until 2023. Flightradar24 data shows that the last A380 appearance at GLA in 2026 was on March 12, shortly after the war began. Since then, the route has been served by the 312-seat A350-900 and the 332-seat 777-300ER.
The A380 was originally scheduled to resume on September 1, but this date is likely to be postponed again. Once resumed, the daily number of seats available for sale will increase from 664 to 1,038, a 56% surge in capacity within 24 hours. Flight EK27 will depart DXB at 7:50 AM local time, arriving in Glasgow at 12:40 PM; the return flight EK28 will leave GLA at 2:40 PM, returning to DXB at 1:05 AM the next day. This schedule is designed to maximize connections with the Asia-Pacific region.

Assuming A380 operations resume on these five routes in September, Emirates plans to operate 82 daily A380 flights from DXB, accounting for more than one-third of its total departures from the hub. The aircraft type will serve 53 destinations. This number is expected to surpass last September's daily 77 flights, partly due to the superjumbo's return to Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) in October 2025 and to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) in February 2026. Additionally, flights to BKK, Ngurah Rai (Bali) International Airport (DPS), Singapore Changi Airport (SIN), and Zurich Airport (ZRH) have increased. However, compared to September 2025, A380 services to Brisbane, Copenhagen, and London Gatwick have decreased. The A380 will begin serving Delhi from October, so Delhi is not included in the September plan.
