en.Wedoany.com Reported - Italy's Ministry of Energy recently approved six authorization decrees for the construction of 720 MW of standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS) across five regions. These projects, licensed to multiple developers through their subsidiaries, cover the southern regions of Apulia, Basilicata, Veneto, Molise, and Tuscany.

UK developer Lightsource BP, through its subsidiary Lightsource Renewable Energy Italy SPV 21, received approval to build the 100 MW Galatina 2 BESS project in the municipalities of Galatina and Aradeo in the southern Apulia region. Field Melfi, a subsidiary of London-based Field, obtained approval for a 200 MW battery storage project in Melfi, Basilicata.

Milan-based ACL Energy, via its subsidiary ACL SPV, received approval for the 136 MW Arcole BESS project in the municipalities of Arcole and San Bonifacio in the Veneto region. Vexuvo's subsidiary Osco Agri Solare obtained approval for the 84 MW Rotello BESS project in the municipality of Rotello, Molise.

Sphera Energy, through its project company Sphera Mistral, received two separate authorizations for the 100 MW Manciano Tafone A and 100 MW Manciano Tafone B battery storage projects in the municipality of Manciano, Tuscany.

Prior to these authorizations, Italy's Ministry of Environment and Energy Security (MASE) last week approved a 99 MW battery storage project in the Molise region. In June of this year, the ministry also approved 10 battery storage projects with a total capacity of approximately 1.1 GW.
