en.Wedoany.com Reported - A new manufacturing center costing AU$17.14 million has been inaugurated in Ourimbah on the Central Coast of New South Wales, Australia. Operated by the Central Coast Industry Connect (CCIC), the facility aims to help small and medium-sized food and beverage manufacturers scale up production, share equipment, and strengthen local manufacturing capabilities.

Named the Central Coast Food Manufacturing Innovation Hub, the facility was developed with funding from the Australian government. Located at 2–4 Brownlee Street in Ourimbah, the hub features a pilot plant and dedicated production spaces that businesses can use on a shared basis for facilities and equipment. CCIC stated that the center aims to reduce the costs and risks for manufacturers when expanding, particularly for those who struggle to secure production space and equipment on their own.

The organization noted that this initiative is designed to support the growth of the AU$2 billion food and beverage manufacturing industry in the Central Coast region. Three companies have already committed to moving into the hub, and additional space remains available for use.

CCIC pointed out that the area is already home to major food manufacturers such as Mars Food and Nutrition, Sanitarium, and Sara Lee. The organization believes the facility will provide projects, expertise, and shared infrastructure to help manufacturers innovate, develop workforce capabilities, and expand their businesses, thereby supporting manufacturing activities and employment in the region.

The hub is operated by CCIC as part of its vision to foster a "vibrant, connected, and innovative manufacturing sector that provides ongoing employment and industry growth for the community." CCIC also stated that the facility aims to strengthen connections among industry, suppliers, government, researchers, students, and the broader community.

Frank Sammut, Executive Director of CCIC, said the launch of the hub is a significant milestone for regional manufacturing. He noted that the center represents years of vision, collaboration, and perseverance, marking an important step forward for the AU$2 billion food and beverage manufacturing industry on the Central Coast.

Ian Hemphill, Chair of the CCIC Board, stated that the facility will serve as the organization's physical base and a focal point for collaboration across the industry. He described the hub as both a physical home for CCIC and the beginning of a new chapter for industry partners and other stakeholders, adding that its success will depend on how collaboration translates into outcomes for manufacturing and the community.
