en.Wedoany.com Reported - China Energy Engineering Group's Central Southern China Electric Power Design Institute (Shaanxi Branch) recently won the EPC general contracting project for the 300 MW/1,200 MWh independent energy storage power station in Baotou Chun Kun Shan.
Located in Baotou City, Inner Mongolia, the project has a planned total investment of approximately 765 million yuan. It will construct a 300 MW/1,200 MWh grid-side independent electrochemical energy storage power station, adopting a liquid-cooled lithium iron phosphate technology route, and will be completed and put into operation in a single phase.
The project is divided into two sections. The Shaanxi Branch is responsible for the full EPC general contracting process of the second section, covering 300 MW/600 MWh, including survey and design, equipment procurement, engineering construction, system commissioning, and handover for operation. The energy storage system will be collected via the station's 35 kV collector lines, stepped up through a 220 kV booster station, and then connected to the 220 kV side of the Chun Kun Shan substation in the Baotou power grid via one 220 kV outgoing line, achieving stable integration with the Western Inner Mongolia Power Grid.
As a key project for promoting the construction of a new power system in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the project is scheduled to be commissioned in 2026. Upon completion, it will enhance the peak shaving, frequency regulation, and flexible regulation capabilities of the Baotou power grid, strengthen the reliability, safety, and stable operation level of the grid, and support Inner Mongolia's energy transition and the achievement of the "dual carbon" goals, delivering economic, social, and ecological benefits.
