en.Wedoany.com Reported - Wuling Starlight L launched on July 16, with a pre-sale price range of 117,800 to 137,800 RMB, bringing the six-seat mid-to-large family SUV segment into the 100,000 to 150,000 RMB price bracket. The model adopts a differentiated configuration strategy, streamlining non-essential features such as advanced driver assistance and in-car refrigerators to control costs, while making no compromises on core performance areas like powertrain, fuel consumption under depleted battery conditions, and fast charging.

After Li Auto and Leapmotor successfully entered the market by positioning themselves as family SUVs, Wuling has leveraged its self-developed technology system and cost control capabilities to enter the six-seat mid-to-large family SUV segment with the Starlight L. Wuling's self-developed technologies include the Tianyu architecture, Lingxi powertrain, Lingmou intelligent driving assistance, Lingyu intelligent cockpit, and Shenlian battery, covering the three-electric system and intelligent technologies. Previously, the Huajing S, co-developed with Huawei, has been validated in the market, achieving monthly sales of 5,689 units in June. The Huajing S is positioned as a cost-effective six-seat large family SUV in the 150,000 to 200,000 RMB range, equipped with Huawei's Qiankun intelligent driving and HarmonyOS cockpit, avoiding direct competition with core rivals like Leapmotor D19 and Onvo L90 through differentiated positioning. The Starlight L shares the underlying technology logic with this model but does not feature Huawei's intelligent driving system, targeting ordinary working-class families' multi-passenger travel needs at a lower price point.

In terms of specifications, the Starlight L directly competes with the Leapmotor C16 extended-range model. The Starlight L has a pre-sale price of 117,800 to 137,800 RMB, while the Leapmotor C16 extended-range six-seat model is priced at 148,800 to 162,800 RMB. Both models feature a 1.5L engine, with the Starlight L using a plug-in hybrid system and the Leapmotor C16 using an extended-range system. The CLTC pure electric range is 260 km for the Starlight L and 280 km for the Leapmotor C16. The 0-100 km/h acceleration time is 8.2 seconds for the Starlight L and 8.3 seconds for the Leapmotor C16. The WLTC fuel consumption under depleted battery conditions is 5.9 L/100 km for the Starlight L and 6.29 L/100 km for the Leapmotor C16. The 30% to 80% charging time is 0.25 hours for the Starlight L and 0.27 hours for the Leapmotor C16. The Starlight L has dimensions of 4980/1930/1760 mm with a wheelbase of 2950 mm, while the Leapmotor C16 measures 4925/1905/1770 mm with a wheelbase of 2825 mm. Both models feature MacPherson strut front suspension, with the Starlight L using a multi-link rear suspension and the Leapmotor C16 using a five-link rear suspension, the latter equipped with variable damping shock absorbers.

The Starlight L is powered by Wuling's self-developed Lingxi Powertrain 3.0 hybrid technology. The 1.5L engine achieves a thermal efficiency of 43.2%, with a maximum power of 106 hp and a maximum torque of 130 Nm. The front-mounted single electric motor delivers a maximum power of 170 kW and a maximum torque of 280 Nm. It is paired with a ten-in-one highly integrated DHT transmission, achieving a fuel consumption of 4.9 L/100 km under depleted battery conditions, a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 8.2 seconds, and a top speed of 190 km/h. The battery is a Shenlian battery (manufactured by REPT SAIC), with a capacity of 37.9 kWh, supporting 3C fast charging. The CLTC pure electric range is 260 km, with a 30% to 80% fast charging time of 15 minutes, and it comes standard with 3.3 kW vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability.

Autohome

In terms of space, the Starlight L features a 2+2+2 six-seat layout and comes standard with a power tailgate. The front seatbacks can be folded flat after removing the headrests to form a large bed. With the third-row seats folded, the trunk volume reaches a maximum of 1,103 L, along with an additional 101 L of underfloor storage, totaling 40 storage compartments throughout the vehicle. The seats feature an 11-layer composite structure, with second-row independent seats equipped with 8-position adjustable armrests and a reclinable third-row backrest. The entire cabin has received 5S health cockpit certification.

In terms of features, the flagship variant is equipped with front power-adjustable seats, a front passenger boss button, front and rear seat heating, front seat ventilation, a second-row tray table, and 16.8 million-color ambient lighting. The Comfort and Premium variants feature manual seats and do not offer ventilation or tray tables. All variants come standard with laminated soundproof glass for the windshield and four doors, while mid-to-high-end variants are equipped with a 12-speaker audio system.

In terms of safety, the Starlight L is equipped with Wuling's self-developed Lingmou intelligent driving assistance system. Mid-to-high-end variants support adaptive cruise control and low-speed parking functions. The flagship variant additionally features high-sensitivity cameras, millimeter-wave radar, and ultrasonic radar, providing active safety functions such as blind spot monitoring, door opening warning, forward and rear collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and traffic sign recognition. For passive safety, it features a six-ring high-strength steel frame, with 21 core areas using 1500 MPa hot-formed steel. The vehicle's high-strength steel content is 75%, and it is equipped with six surround-type airbags.

The intelligent cockpit is equipped with the Lingyu system, featuring a 15.6-inch 2K central control screen, supporting an in-car AI assistant, multi-platform smartphone connectivity, and remote control via smartphone, compatible with Hicar, Carlink, and Carplay.

The exterior adopts a minimalist design with a full-width LED headlight strip, and all variants come standard with LED high and low beams, supporting functions such as automatic headlights and cornering lights. The vehicle dimensions are 4980/1930/1760 mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 2950 mm. It is equipped with 20-inch aluminum alloy wheels and is available in five colors: Pine Green, Lake Blue, Bamboo Black, Mountain Silver, and Morning Frost White. The interior features a column-mounted gear shifter layout, eliminating physical buttons, and offers two color schemes: Cloud Glaze White and Sand Ceramic Brown, along with wood grain trim panels.

The launch of the Wuling Starlight L further lowers the entry threshold for the six-seat mid-to-large new energy SUV market, filling the gap in the 100,000 to 150,000 RMB price range. In the mainstream 120,000 to 140,000 RMB five-seat mid-size SUV market, the Starlight L creates a differentiated competitive advantage by targeting multi-passenger travel scenarios with its six-seat layout.
